|cooling tower water treatment|cooling tower water treatment|process water filtration|industrial water filtration systems VORTISAND® is a high performance automatic backwashable cooling tower sand filter that ingeniously combines centrifugal separation and sand filtration in the same vessel.VORTISAND® achieves very fine filtration (down to 0.45 micron) at high rate, using 80 to 90% less water for backwashing compared to the traditional cooling tower sand filter. VORTISAND® provides a filtration 10 to 20 times finer than the traditional cooling tower sand filter. Continuous filtering removes suspended solids. This turbulence produces a sustained cleaning action that forces the suspended solids to accumulate on the inside walls of the tank. As a result, much finer sand can be used without any clogging problems. The water, now largely free of impurities, is then filtered through the cooling tower sand filter and subsequently collected. Water passes through the sand media to the under drain at the bottom the vessel, allowing the top layer media to capture the contaminants. The purpose of putting the top layer of sand in motion is to use the compacted fine sand as a barrier for the ultra fine particles, so that the particles are filtered out at the surface and not deeply into the sand like the conventional cooling tower sand filter. Contaminants trapped above the sand are removed using an automatic backwash cycle which requires much less water and a shorter operating time than the traditional cooling tower sand filter. This process contributes to longer cycles and much finer filtration levels. High efficiency at low turnover rates allows us to reduce the size of the filter compared to the traditional cooling tower sand filter which require a minimum of 24 turnovers/day to be efficient. |
