A cooling tower does more than just cool. It also acts as an air-scrubber for removing dust, pollen and pollution circulating through the system.....

PROCESS WATER
With their unit concept that combines centrifugal separation and sand filtration, the VORTISAND® filters ensure a greater filtration than traditional sand filters and are widely used for various industrial water polishing processes.
Mechanical seal protection
Water intake
Water reuse
Spray nozzle protection
Tertiary treatment
Pre Snow gun machine water polishing
VORTISAND® operates either on an intermittent or a continuous filtration flow basis depending on the application needs.

APPLICATION BRIEFS
VORTISAND® for Whiter Snow!
Pre snow gun water polishing application in major Victorian ski resort. VORTISAND model A18-36-SP was installed in 2001. Very few ski resorts having snow making systems need to install a water filtration system as they usually pull their water supply from rivers with continuous flowing water and low turbidity. The water supply comes from the local storage dam that is used to generate electricity which affects the water level throughout the winter. When the water level is low, bottom sediments are stirred up due to a lack of natural vegetation. Turbidity way increase after heavy rain and runoff to the dam. The water level can rise and drop very rapidly depending on the energy demand. Prior to VORTISAND filtration system, centrifugal separators are used as pretreatment. Filtration capacity is 2 200 gpm (160 lps). The resort will be expanding its filtration unit to 220 lps and eventually to 460 lps over the coming years. Whiter snow remain longer on the slopes.

VORTISAND filters operated in absolute worst case situation during a rapid drop in dam level an on the initial exposure to fresh silt in the creek. TSS load at creek intake was at 120 ppm and the post VORTISAND TSS load was 3 ppm.

"The filters did a magnificent job"

Cascades Papers (Rolland)
Used for spray nozzle protection, VORTISAND® filters minimized municipal water consumption by switching to efficiently treated river water. The VORTISAND® filter gave opportunities to save on many other aspects.
